Sparrow Camp is located on our 120-acre farm near Shenandoah National Park's White Oak Canyon and Old Rag Mountain. This walk-in site has access to our farm trails, pond and farm store, which carries Animal Welfare Approved meat, eggs and produce from our farm, as well as camping essentials, a small gourmet grocery and local artist.
The walk to the campsite is a short 2/10 mile from our farm store and parking area and has approximately 70 feet in elevation gain. This very private wooded site is located off one of our farm trails, it is surrounded by mountain laurel on a small overlook with fall and winter views.
The campsite has a small stone fire ring with cooking grill, handwashing station and portable toilet using bio-bags. We offer a luggage service to your site and have hammock tents available for rental, as well as other camping gear.

September 2025 highly recommend Tent · Sparrow Hammock Camp Had such a beautiful night on Jennifer's land. You can immediately feel how much love they have put into their space. The campsite was secluded and quiet, nicely set up everything we could have needed. Favorite part was hearing the Barred owls at night. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
April 2025 Weekend getaway Tent · Sparrow Hammock Camp Sparrow Hammock Camp was perfect for me and my partner. It was secluded and had plenty of space and trees. If you are looking for a nice private location to getaway I recommend this camp site. Jennifer is very responsive and kind and we enjoyed meeting her and staying on her property. I recommend requesting the transport because it’s a little bit of a walk and it just makes it so much easier. I would definitely stay there again.
Jennifer was exceptionally accommodating and so thoughtful in anticipating our needs and introducing us to her farm—really above and beyond. The walk to the campsite was reasonable and the site felt secluded but safe, even as a solo mom with two small kids I feel very supported. The kids adored visiting the animals, couldn’t get enough of the week-old baby goats, donkey and piggies—this was an adventure from start to finish and such a fun family getaway with the added bonus of great local hangouts and a gorgeous hike with waterfall views at Shenandoah! Highly recommend!!
Jennifer was so kind and communicative. Her land was quaint and peaceful. We stayed at Sparrow Camp and it was such a pleasant experience. The site had an outdoor sink, which was super useful. We loved our stay there and really enjoyed the animals (Maverick and Lily were incredible greeters) We didn’t get to explore the area much since our stay was pretty short, but we will definitely be back!!
Jenn was a lovely host! The property is so beautiful and hanging out with all the animals was so fun! Buster, the donkey, is definitely my favorite!
Received very detailed instructions in plenty of time prior to our arrival, which made navigating to our camp site a breeze! Campsite was very nice and well stocked, and we were even greeted by two big friendly dogs! No hassle with check-in, hosts offered plenty of assistance (which we didn’t end up needing but greatly appreciated it being offered!), and there were goats! Overall, enjoyed our brief stay and would definitely recommend!
Nice camp on a farm situated in the woods. A great variety of animals that would be a wonder for younger city kids (I had two teenage boys). Had everything: fire grate, water station, BBQ utensils/marshmallow--sausage skewers, nice tent/hammocking spot. Also got the cast iron pan and some bratwurst, breakfast sausage to cook over fire. Camp was situated a short walk on an easy, well-graded path from parking--just enough to make you think you did some work to get there even though you really didn't. I honestly couldn't think of a better place to take young kids camping. They would burn their energy going between the camp and the farm to see the animals.
Very cool experience. Quiet and private. Nice short trails to wander. Cute farm animals hanging out by the farmstore. Jennifer was super cool and friendly and provided maps of their space / area. The Sparrow Site had several solar panel lanterns which helped navigate in the dark. A five minute walk from my car. Very pleasant time. Close to old rag / hiking. An absolutely beautiful drive.
Holy smokes, I cannot understate how blown away we were with this place. Not only were the hosts fantastic, helping us to and from the campsite with our gear, but they gave us a tour of their land with a history and the plans for future projects. My favorite part was definitely holding the baby goat. We had the most wonderful time staying here, and we will definitely be returning this summer. Thank you so much, Jennifer, for such a fantastic trip and memories we will have forever!
Sparrow camp was a wonderful spot to set up camp, and I would definitely book it again in the future. I was greeted by some of the farm animals, and Jennifer was a great host; maps of the property trails and local spots were provided, as well as some food and other hiking recommendations. The site was clean, secluded, and quiet. The outdoor bathroom/ portable toilet setup was more than adequate. The hike to the camp site was steeper than I had expected, but still doable. There are places on the property where cell service is obtainable, or you can avoid it all together closer to camp. It is close to the back side of Old Rag, as well as some other beautiful spots. The Farm Store is well stocked with souvenirs, supplies, and some specialty food items. I’m looking forward to returning.
