Camping on the Farm

Camping on the farm Tent · With kids · Fiddlehead Camp near SNP Our family had a fantastic time here this weekend! My daughter 5 1/2 and son 8 truly loved the tour and getting to meet all kinds of animal friends. The site was a comfortable hike and the kids enjoyed finding frogs and daddy long legs along the creek. Would absolutely come back and will recommend. Jennifer and John were lovely hosts and made sure everything went smoothly.

Great place to camp! We were given very helpful instructions that helped plan our itinerary and would have been totally lost without. Super private and unique - would highly recommend!

Fiddlehead Camp near SNP

So glad we found Fiddlehead Camp and Landon Farm. It’s a terrific location to explore the area (and it’s also great just to roam the property). Jen couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful for recommending places to explore. They have a terrific farm shop and we have been enjoying items we purchased from our stay.

Paradise In the Woods

If you're looking for a peaceful place to unwind, recharge and to rest and reflect on life- especially if you live with PTSD or depression, this is the perfect place to do just that. My twin sis and I decided to spend this years' pilgrimage (The Feast of Tabernacles) up near the Shenandoah forest per the prompting of Holy Spirit and found Jen's farm on HipCamp to do just that. Jen and her partner were very warm and welcoming, and extremely helpful and hospitable upon our arrival, throughout our stay and also until the day we departed. I booked the Fiddlehead site which was tucked deep into the forest and perfect for why me and my twin sis was there. The non-potable water that the camp hosts provided was perfect for washing dishes and clothes. Having the table, bench, camp chairs and outdoor "counter" was a huge blessing and made it possible to comfortably put together our feast dinners which we enjoyed by our evening campfires. If you're looking for natural products at their camp store ie feminine products, bar soap or other items such as propane for your camp stove, they have a great selection and while we weren't expecting them to have so many eco-friendly products, the surprise was pleasant! The farm animals were one of the many highlights of the trip and I looked forward to greeting them every day as they free-ranged around the property. Being that animals are therapy for me, this was just what I needed!

Great stay at Landon Farm!

Our stay at this farm was wonderful! Jen is an amazing host. She was there to greet us, give us directions to the campsite, directions to nearby hikes, and to give us the lay of the lands (which are beautiful). She even brought out a tiny (weeks old) baby goat for us to meet! There were so many animals out and about (their 2 dogs, goats, chickens, ducks, 2 pet pigs and a donkey). People should be aware that the campsite is about a 10 minute walk from the parking area, so pack light! We had a lovely stay and definitely plan on visiting again!

Old Rag Hiking and Pugsley the goat

My friends and I stayed 2 nights to hike the old rag loop. Jennifer was very kind, helpful, and always answered messages quickly. We have to shout out the mini goat named Pugsley who likes to rub his forehead on your leg. He and the rest of the animals will be remembered for a long time.

Remote feeling with plenty to do!

Highly recommend a trip here! To start, the directions to the area were super clear, and communicating with Jen beforehand was easy and great. Once we got there, Jen was a wonderful host: she gave us maps and also a run down of everything to do in the local area (recommendations for site seeing, restaurants to eat at, etc.) as well as in Shenandoah if we wanted to go into the National Park itself. The site itself was beautiful, tucked back away from everyone else so you had your own little private spot without being miles and miles from civilization. The land around is great with plenty of walking if you don’t feel like driving around, and it was a blast watching the farm animals. Highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re for the DMV and are looking for a quick weekend getaway like we were! Will be coming back!
