Alexander C.1 year on HipcampRecommends· August 2025AmazingTent · Group trip · Birdsong Camp: Near Shenandoah NPThis campsite was an amazing place to relax and enjoy nature. The grounds were clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly and always ready to help with any questions. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
Jennifer's farm was so great! We loved car camping at the Bird Song site. We camped with our 4 and 5 year old girls and they loved visiting the farm animals each morning. Jen with kind enough to give us a tour of the farm and show us where the trails were along her property. Having a sink, shower, and toilet all to ourselves was a real treat. There was also lots to do in the area. We enjoyed hiking to a waterfall at White Oak Canyon and a wine tasting at DuCard winery. We hope to come back again!
This is a gorgeous and well-maintained campsite. The photos don't do it justice. Plenty of space, flat and dry spot for your tent, sink and 2-burner to cook if needed, a bathroom, even a shower. Great firepit, horseshoe game. It's just a 15-min drive from the Whiteoak Canyon trailhead. We hadn't been, def worth it. Kids can get to the lower falls. Jennifer's a kind and available host. She runs a nice farm, and kiddos will enjoy petting goats, checking out pigs, chickens, a bunny, couple dogs and a donkey roaming around. We hope to return.
We had an amazing weekend at Birdsong. It was our first experience traveling in a sprinter van, and the campsite was not only easily accessible, but also lovely and functional; we loved the outdoor kitchen and shower as well as the dining table and fire pit. Think camping with plenty of home comforts. Jennifer was terrific, and we enjoyed meeting her and her menagerie of animals - petting week old goats was a real treat. The store was amazing - full of an assortment of diverse items: food, camping supplies, and local gifts. We also hiked the trails throughout the property; they were well-maintained and interesting. Of course, there were plenty of hiking opportunities nearby within the Shenandoah National Park and the Rapidan Wildlife Management Area - both an easy drive from the property. We would heartily recommend a stay at this property.
This was our first HipCamp experience. We are now spoiled for life. Everything was totally delightful. Even the weather. They gave thought of everything to make a camper feel comfortable. Super clean!! Jennifer is a kind, warm and interesting host to talk with. She gave us directions, trail suggestions, food and milkshake suggestions. Really fun area to be in. . It’s amazing everything that they do on this farm. Wowza! The animals are all very sweet. Even Charlie the fainting goat who tried to nibble on my shorts. We got the breakfast basket and made the pork and sage sausage and fresh eggs each morning. We can’t wait to come back and explore even more. Thank you so much, Jennifer!
Loved the whole camp set up! Everything was perfect, and all of the provided cookware was super helpful. We were obsessed w the farm animals, cat, and dogs.. you need to stroll around and stop in the farm store for sure.
Best hip camp I’ve been too! Jennifer has a beautiful property, and has created a wonderful camp site with lots of amenities. The bathroom/shower setup makes it very easy to camp with a group. Very close to Old Rag. Definitely make sure to stop by her farm store. We got some fantastic steaks and cooked them on the fire. We’d definitely come back!
Absolutely perfect for car camping and just relaxing. This is my second time staying and already have a third stay reserved. Stayed for 3 nights with friends and enjoyed the hiking trails on the farm, petting all the farm animals, and seeing all the piglets just born not too long ago. Jennifer was the perfect host. She gave us great info on hiking to the lower falls on White Oak Canyon area (Shenandoah National Park). We enjoyed dinner at the local winery, Blur Quartz, less than 5 minutes away. Camp is perfect with a kitchen, toilet (flushable), and shower area (solar heated). The site has room for several tents depending upon the size. There is a horseshoe pit on site. Nice trail from the camp site to the farm store that goes by a pond with geese and ducks, and a very old log cabin that is home to two cats. You will be greeted by lots of goats upon your arrival, and followed by the geese. Hens and roosters. You might get lucky ands see a donkey with his pig friend (can't remember their names but they are best buddies). There are two working dogs on site, Maverick and Lilly, who always greeted us with lots of kisses. The farm is located not far from several trails on the Shenandoah National Park, as well as small local towns.
Lovely weekend visiting Birdsong Camp and the beautiful Watercress Inn at Landon Farm! Everything from the picturesque grounds to the amazing and friendly farm animals to the fantastic hosts made this a weekend one not to forget! The close proximity to Shenandoah National Park was a bonus. Birdsong Camp offered nice amenities including an outhouse, shower and outdoor kitchen. The camp spot was flat and the fire pit and tables were a nice addition. Loved the breakfast basket with fresh items from the farm and other local businesses. Would highly recommend a trip here and we can’t wait to return!
We absolutely loved our stay at Birdsong. Jennifer was accommodating and helpful. The kitchen was well-stocked with pans, knives, kitchen pantry essentials, etc. Having the kitchen and a working bathroom turned our trip from camping to glamping. We enjoyed every minute, and the campsite is aptly named as I saw quite a few birds I don't usually get to view.
